Mukiibi v Sheroba & Another (Miscellaneous Application 47 of 2024) [2024] UGHC 660 (15 July 2024)

The High Court determined that the slip rule under Section 99 of the Civil Procedure Act allows the court that passed the judgment to correct clerical or mathematical errors at any time. The appellate court (High Court) did not interfere with the trial court's findings regarding the measurements of the land, nor was the alleged error raised during the appeal. Therefore, the trial court remains the appropriate forum to correct any such errors, as it retains jurisdiction for this limited purpose despite the functus officio doctrine.
