Neither witness directly identified the accused as a perpetrator of the alleged aggravated robbery, and the evidence presented did not prove any of the essential ingredients of the offence. The court found that the nature of the evidence fell short of the standard required for a reasonable tribunal to convict in the absence of a defence. Accordingly, the accused was acquitted under Section 74(1) of the Trial on Indictments Act.
