Okumu and 2 Others v Uganda (Criminal Appeal No. 140 of 2022) [2023] UGHCCRD 16 (13 March 2023)
The court found that the prosecution proved all essential ingredients of the offence of grievous harm beyond reasonable doubt. The evidence established that the complainant sustained grievous harm, the harm was caused unlawfully, and the appellants actively participated in causing the harm. The defense of self-defense was not available to the appellants as they were the aggressors. The trial magistrate properly evaluated the evidence in convicting the appellants.
