Akankwasa Damian v Uganda [2012] UGSC 4 (26 April 2012)

The Supreme Court found that the applicant failed to demonstrate a likelihood of success on appeal or that he would suffer irreparable injury if the stay was not granted. The offences with which the applicant was charged—causing financial loss and illicit enrichment—were criminal offences at the time of the alleged acts under the repealed Penal Code Act, and the Anti Corruption Act was a reenactment rather than a substantive change.
