Muhumuza v Kiparu (Civil Appeal No. 36 of 2015) [2020] UGHC 47 (28 April 2020)
The court found that the power of attorney under which the respondent appointed Ezra Kanyemwenge was executed by an illiterate person and did not comply with section 3 of the Illiterate Protection Act. The absence of a certificate of translation and proper attestation rendered the power of attorney void. Consequently, all actions and testimony by the attorney in the lower court were also void.
