Naional Forestry Authourity v Mugiza Aziz (Civil Appeal No. 224 of 2017) [2020] UGCA 58 (20 March 2020)
The Court of Appeal found that the respondent, through her employees, engaged in illegal felling of trees outside the scope of the license, admitted to the offence, and paid a fine in lieu of prosecution. This illegality vitiated the contract, rendering it unenforceable against the appellant. The respondent was thus not entitled to any remedies for breach of contract, and her claim was unsustainable.
