Uweera v Uganda

Uweera v Uganda (Criminal Revision 31 of 2022) [2023] UGHCCRD 151 (3 July 2023)

The court found that although there were concurrent civil and criminal proceedings, the subject matter and parties in the two suits were not substantially the same. The criminal case was prosecuted by the state for receiving stolen property, while the civil suit involved breach of contract and fraud with different parties and remedies.
