Mabirizi v Among (Criminal Appeal 3 of 2025) [2025] UGHCACD 10 (25 April 2025)

The High Court held that under section 42 of the Magistrates' Courts Act, a magistrate has the discretion to refer a private complaint to the police for investigation and is not required to entertain applications for additional evidence or restraining orders before determining whether a prima facie offence is disclosed.
