The defendant's caveat was not legally justified, as he had no valid interest in the deceased's estate either as administrator of their late father's estate or as an assignee. The assignment deed presented by the defendant was found to be a forgery, as the purported witness, Jonathan Sengooba, was in a coma and died on the same day the deed was allegedly executed. The affidavit supporting the caveat was therefore struck out, leaving the caveat unsupported.
